How to get your points across: Getting points from the judges. Tips and tricks for competitors
The day will start 9:00 with a maximum of 25 people attending the workshop of Joris Jacobs Longsword HEMA Master Class until 12:00. After that we will have a one hour break for lunch until 13:00.
After the lunch the people that did the workshop and incoming people of for the free sparring time will have the opportunity to train together and socialize.
Between 13:00 and 17:00 you will have the opportunity to attend the private lessons
Biography Joris Jacobs:
Joris Jacobs is the founder and head instructor of Arte Mortiferum.
Joris has been practicing different martial arts from an early age and graduating as an instructor in many (Muy Thai, Kyokushin Karate, MMA, Ju-jitsu, …) . He has his own company Ludus Corvus where he teaches combat courses to individuals and government organizations.
Within HEMA, Joris is a competitor holding medals in various disciplines .
As a researcher he is currently studying German longsword, Rapier & Dagger, Saber, Savate, and Ringen.

Location workshop:
The location of the workshop will be at the sporthal “de Treffer” in Ammerzoden. You can easily park nearby the hall without parking costs. Every hour there also will drive a bus to near the sporting hall.

Time schedule
The workshop is an intermediate level workshop. Basic German longsword knowledge is advised as general technical knowledge will be considered known and mastered.
The idea is to give fencers some extra tools to improve there fencing and strategy to have more success in sparring & competition.
The workshop will be split into three parts

| INTRODUCTION + WARM-UP: 09:00 – 09:30 | |
| THE RULES OF THE GAME DECIDED THE STRATEGY NAME: 09:30 – 10:15 | Competition is a game as such you need to know the rules bend the rules and focus your training accordingly. During these 45 minutes we will run several scenario mock fights focusing on different rules and how to deal with them and incorporate several tactics derived from a decisive strategy. |
| MY STYLE IS BETTER THAN YOURS: 10:15 – 11:00 | Adaptability in fighting is key. In this part of the class. I will offer tools how to create several fight styles focusing on the importance of developing attacks with primary and secondary intentions. Defence by evasion, parry riposte or counterattack. How to integrate these options in your training and in your style creation. |
| A STYLE FOR EVERY JUDGE: 11:00 – 12:00 | We will run mock fights where fighters will need to adapt there styles in order to get points. Focusing more on integrating known techniques into tactics that will result in receiving points from the judges. The idea is to guide fencers towards a decision tree from a general strategy in order to derive tactics that or adaptable to different forms of judging. |

You can pay by transfering directly to the IBAN number and adding the information of the event and your name. If you pay for two people you do two transitions. After registration you will find a email giving information asking for payment
- We may only wait until 10 days after receiving the email. After that we may cancel your registration.
- Pay after you got confirmed that there is still a spot free for attending the event
